At State Forty Eight Foundation, our mission is to enrich and strengthen Arizona through thoughtful partnerships, inspired community action, and investment in the changemakers of tomorrow.
We fulfill our mission through our four pillars:
Through fundraising efforts and volunteer-driven events, we aim to be a catalyst for change and unification across Arizona by bringing together nonprofit organizations, public agencies, businesses, and individuals with common goals and hopeful resolutions for the community.
Through mentorship, workshops, and with the help of our community partners, we offer supportive programming for Arizona youth that teaches them valuable and practical life skills, but also promotes a positive self-esteem and strong leadership skills.
Through professional development events and programming, our goal is to better Arizona’s startup community by offering entrepreneurial education and access to resources, and by supporting individuals by partnering with incubator organizations.
In 2019, State Forty Eight launched a new initiative called State Forty Eight Community Impact, where we made it our commitment to do good by empowering others to do good. Our mission has been to inspire actionable giving that will contribute to wellbeing of our community and create a platform for local organizations to be seen, heard, and supported.
We were blown away by the support. In our first year, we managed to draw out more than 250 volunteers and donate more than $21,000 to local charities and nonprofit organizations.
After witnessing the incredible support from our community, we recognized a desire from the people of Arizona to contribute and be part of the solution. That is why in 2020 we officially launched the State Forty Eight Foundation, which is dedicated to the prosperity of Arizona and its community members, through the support of our local organizations, local people, and natural landscapes.

Mike Spangenberg was born and raised in Chandler, Arizona and is the CEO & Co-founder of lifestyle and apparel brand, State Forty Eight. Before devoting himself to his company, Mike spent 15 years in the hotel and hospitality industry. But fashion has always been in his bones. In fact, when he was younger, his favorite thing to do was to go back-to-school shopping. As an Arizona native, Mike loves everything there is about his home state, so creating a company that allows him to do something he is passionate about all while giving back and being involved in the community he grew up in, has been a dream come true.

As a film school dropout turned self-taught graphic designer, Nicholas has gained his artistic skillset as the company has grown and matured. As a lover and admirer of the outdoors, he pulls much of his inspiration from activities such as hiking through the Grand Canyon and kayaking across Lake Powell. It was the beauty of Arizona that originally inspired his graphic design work, and continues to influence the brand. As State Forty Eight has grown, it’s the community of people, working with large and small local companies, and seeing the state continually prosper, that inspires him to give back to the community that has allowed him to achieve his artistic aspirations.
